Principal Cloud Infrastructure Architect (VCF)
The Role
Sidepath is seeking an experienced, hands-on Principal Cloud Infrastructure Architect (VCF) to lead technical implementation and delivery engagements for our customers.
This role is ideal for a VMware engineer with extensive experience delivering professional services engagements, deploying and configuring VMware solutions, and troubleshooting complex enterprise environments.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation along with a strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure architecture and implementation best practices.
Unlike a traditional presales role, this position focuses on post-sales technical delivery, implementation, and customer success, ensuring customers successfully deploy, integrate, and optimize their VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
What You'll Do
- Lead hands-on implementation, deployment, configuration, and optimization of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
- Deliver VMware professional services engagements, including new deployments, migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure modernization projects.
- Implement and support VMware vSphere, vCenter Server, ESXi, vSAN, and VCF Networking (NSX) environments.
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot disaster recovery solutions leveraging VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), VMware Live Site Recovery, and VCF Protection and Recovery related technologies.
- Deploy and configure VMware vDefend and VCF Networking (NSX) security capabilities, including microsegmentation and distributed firewall policies.
- Support VCF lifecycle management, upgrades, and ongoing platform optimization.
- Work directly with customers to assess technical requirements, develop implementation plans, and execute successful deployments.
- Troubleshoot complex virtualization, networking, storage, and infrastructure issues.
- Develop technical documentation, implementation guides, runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials.
- Collaborate with Sidepath’s solutions architects, engineering teams, and account executives to ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and best practices to customers throughout their VMware adoption journey.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of hands-on experience working with VMware technologies in enterprise environments.
- Proven experience delivering VMware professional services or post-sales implementation engagements.
- Strong technical knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including deployment, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Advanced experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server, and vSAN.
- Experience implementing or supporting VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) or VMware Live Site Recovery. (VCF Protection and Recovery).
- Working knowledge of VMware NSX and vDefend, including network virtualization, distributed firewalls, and microsegmentation.
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking, storage, compute, and virtualization architecture.
- Experience troubleshooting complex VMware infrastructure issues.
- Ability to independently manage technical deliverables and work directly with enterprise customers.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as needed.
What Sets You Apart
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) certification.
- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x.
- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation Operations (formerly Aria Operations) and automation technologies.
- Familiarity with VMware Live Recovery, disaster recovery orchestration, and business continuity solutions.
- Experience with VMware Tanzu or vSphere Kubernetes Service (VKS).
- Experience with Dell Technologies infrastructure and enterprise storage solutions.
- Prior experience working for a VMware partner, systems integrator, or value-added reseller (VAR).
- Experience with infrastructure migrations, data center consolidation, and large-scale enterprise deployments.
