As an APC Authorized Reliability Partner, Sidepath is committed to the Datacenter Lifecycle Management concept that meets our clients' current and future infrastructure requirements. From professional design and project management services to the acquisition and deployment of APC's industry-leading Infrastruxure solution set, Sidepath is a committed partner of choice for companies looking to build the most agile, 'next generation' infrastructure.

What Drives the Need for a Datacenter Lifecycle Concept - Since the 1960s, when dedicated datacenters first evolved, datacenter infrastructure was developed by designers and engineers using a 'rigid capacity' or 'fixed capacity' method. This meant that infrastructure products like datacenter power and cooling were basically over-sized with an overhead of capacity for future needs. This methodology was possible due to technology evolving at a slower and constant rate, much slower than today's technologies. This condition lasted well through the mid-1990s, then servers, processors, and network technology started to accelerate in power consumption and heat generation. Since the later 1990s, datacenter managers have had an increasing challenge of meeting cooling and power requirements for today's power-hungry, mega-heat generating technologies.

The fact is, today's datacenter environment requires a 'Lifecycle' approach to meet the demanding needs of evolving technology. With newer technologies evolving like Blade-servers, Virtualization, POE (Power-Over-Ethernet), VoIP and many others, this new lifecycle approach takes into account the technology change-factor and the need to provide a more efficient and scalable architecture. This concept, design, and approach to the overall infrastructure lifecycle provides companies with the ability to change technologies rapidly and have the datacenter infrastructure efficiently meet the new demands. Today's change in the way we think and look at designing Datacenters as a whole, products, and capacity planning as evolved into Datacenter Lifecycle Management. The conceptual datacenter lifecycle chart depicted below shows the basic 4 areas that need to be addressed to reap the benefits of a lifecycle approach. Sidepath provides complete APC InfrastruXure products and professional services for your company's datacenter needs today and for future growth. Each Datacenter Lifecycle Phase is directly addressed through the trained and experienced staff at Sidepath.

  • Concept/Assessment Phase: By conducting onsite visits to collect information and data regarding your datacenter infrastructure, Sidepath can provide a comprehensive analysis report regarding your power, cooling, cable management, and physical security systems capabilities.

  • Design Phase: Using the information and intelligence gained during the Concept/Assessment Phase, your Sidepath team will work closely with you to design an appropriate, scalable APC Infrastruxure solution that is efficient, standardized and functionality-rich.

  • Implement Phase: In conjunction the APC Design Team and selected building contractors, Sidepath provides Project management, installation and testing for our clients. This 'team' approach ensures a complete and consistent result for our client.

  • Operate Phase: Post implementation testing and analysis reporting are a key component for the success of a Datacenter Lifecycle strategy. Within the scope of the project, adjustments and/or enhancements to meet the client requirements are addressed in this phase of the project. Sidepath conducts complete testing and analysis with a detailed 'Datacenter Lifecycle' report for all of our infrastructure clients.
